Sadie’s Barkery was formed in 2008 but my passion for animals began decades ago. I grew up with animals and loved them all but my life changed when I took a trip to a Missouri kill shelter. There I met a 10 week old speckled puppy. Her name is Sadie. Since then I have worked in a multitude of facets of the animal industry; from agricultural research, equine breeding and veterinary hospitals to luxury pet hotels, animal shelters and working detection dogs. Something that has stayed a top priority for me is that all my animals get a high quality, healthy, safe and tasty diet. After learning about the impacts of conventional farming on our environment, livestock, and the possible residues in our food I decided to start making my own organic snacks for Sadie at home. I found that her favorites were actually the simplest recipes; no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. The Barkery was born from years of making these natural treats for friends, family and Sadie of course. At heart, I am nothing more than an animal lover. I demand only the best for all my furry friends, even those I haven’t met. I can’t imagine my life if I hadn’t gone to the shelter that summer afternoon and brought Sadie home. That is why a portion of all our profits is donated to PAWS Chicago. They are committed to saving homeless animals, like Sadie, and educating the public. We will continue our mission of compassion and quality in every way we can to help more Sadie dogs.
